What: Job Corps Instructor – Cement Mason
Where: Centennial Job Corps Center, Nampa, ID
Salary: $70,000-$80,000 per year

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Corps is a federally sponsored “pre-apprenticeship” training program designed to assist disadvantaged youth in the development of their personal and trade skills to a level sufficient to prepare them to successfully enter careers in the concrete industry.

A Job Corps Instructor supervises student training through personal experience and the development and delivery of apprenticeship-based lesson plans. Instructors must be able to physically and skillfully perform all aspects of the cement mason trade, including reading blueprints, basic estimating, site prep, and place and finish flatwork, curb and gutter, decorative concrete, forming flatwork and walls to 6 feet and all aspects of patch and repair. They must be willing, experienced, and possess the maturity to act as a mentor for the youth in their charge, and coordinate with other trade instructors in the planning and execution of various construction projects used as “hands-on” training for our students. An instructor must have a strong desire to teach, be able to use a personal computer; they must be able to complete and manage routine paper-work and manage a budget to purchase tools, clothing and other materials associated with the training agenda.

The Instructor must cooperatively network with Training Center Staff, Industry Employers, Local Unions and other industry related organizations in order to assist in the training, placement and follow-up of students into successful industry careers. All employees of the NPIJATF are considered “At-Will” and no contract for continued employment is offered or implied. Continuance of employment is based upon Government funding and individual and program performance.

REQUIREMENTS:
A H.S. Diploma or GED Certificate is required; Candidate must be a journey-level cement mason with a minimum of five years of experience, be willing to perform related college courses work required to obtain a vocational teaching accreditation (concurrent with employment), have a good driving record, and be able to pass a drug screening and agree to a full criminal background check.
